Corporate Profile

The membership of our organization is made up of periodontists or those training to become a periodontist. Members principally reside in Australia or New Zealand although a small number of members reside in countries outside Australia or New Zealand. Current membership is 140 persons. ANZAP has a number of objectives, the primary ones being:

  • To promote the dental and general health of the community through improved periodontal knowledge and care.

  • To support the interests of members in the practice of and teaching of periodontics and the advancement of periodontics in general

  • To encourage and maintain the study of periodontics and the clinical advancement of periodontics, and to promote and maintain high ethical and professional among member periodontists.

  • To make constructive recommendations to members in relation to the practise of periodontics or the practice of dentistry in the field of periodontics.

  • To encourage a desirable standard of periodontal training for under-graduate dental students in Australia and New Zealand universities, and to encourage support and monitor the attainment of desirable standards of post-graduate training for periodontists in Australia and New Zealand.

Dental Health Week is a community awareness program coordinated and funded by the ADA. In 2008 the ADA is leading a campaign to target 30-50 year olds and has developed a range of Fact Sheets on oral health care. August 4 - 10 is Dental Health Week
