Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are surgical specialists who treat conditions, defects, injuries, and aesthetic aspects of the mouth, teeth, jaws, and face. They care for patients who have problem wisdom teeth, facial pain, and misaligned jaws. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons also treat accident victims suffering facial injuries, offer reconstructive and dental implant surgery, and care for patients with tumors and cysts of the jaws.

Dental Health Week is a community awareness program coordinated and funded by the ADA. In 2008 the ADA is leading a campaign to target 30-50 year olds and has developed a range of Fact Sheets on oral health care. August 4 - 10 is Dental Health Week
