Corporate Profile
The International College of Dentists was formed in the United States in 1928 to recognise ability, promote ethical practice and to honour meritorious service in Dentistry. An Australian Section was authorised in 1964, and in 1977 this Section was renamed the Australasian Section to include not only New Zealand, but all countries in the South Pacific area. Admittance to Fellowship is by invitation, and is extended to dentists who have been deemed to fulfil the objectives of the College. These include: meritorious service in one or more branches of dentistry and the general community, the desire and ability to meet, share knowledge and enjoy the company of dentists in other countries, and the maintenance of the highest ethical standards when dealing with patients, staff and colleagues. The prospective candidate is assessed, not only on past service, but also on the estimation of future service as a Fellow of the International College.
