ADA Federal Councillor appointed to the newly established National Lead Clinicians Group

In May 2010 the Federal Government announced funding over four years to improve clinical engagement in Australia. Minister for Health and Ageing Nicola Roxon has this week announced Dr Mark Bowman will represent oral health professionals in the prioritisation and improvement of clinical standards.

It is expected the National Lead Clinicians Group (NLCG) will advise on:

• prioritisation of the development, and strategies for implementation, of national clinical standards and guidelines as formulated by the National Health and Medical Research Council and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care;
• opportunities to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the Australian health system; and
• clinical matters as requested by the Minister for Health and Ageing.

The ADA congratulates Dr Bowman on his appointment to the NLCG, with confidence he will demonstrate a wealth of knowledge that proves valuable in improving the quality and functionality of care in the Australian health system.
