FAQ's

August 2004 is Dental Awareness Month. This year, the Australian Dental Association's campaign is focusing on things "Beyond Teeth" which refers to your entire oral health as well as your dental health.

Research tells us that dental decay in children has risen in recent years, compared with the decay rates of the 1990's. Additionally, a significant proportion of the community does not receive regular dental inspection and treatment. In 2004, The Australian Dental Association is dedicated to working towards increasing awareness about oral health so that Australians can prevent dental diseases in the mouth. As well, we are encouraging those who visit the dentist to discuss the health of their whole mouth. Remember, for dentists, it's not just about teeth!

This website contains valuable resource material for parents and teachers to inform them about what messages are important for themselves and those under their care so they can have a positive impact on the oral health of Australian children.

During August, if you are a teacher, we encourage you to run an oral health class in your classroom and we have provided the necessary tools for you on this site.

Additional support materials can be obtained through each State Branch of the Australian Dental Association. Contact details are located on this site.

If you are a parent, we request you use the information contained on this website to educate and inform your children about looking after their oral health. There is much you can do to improve their oral health by influencing their behaviour, particularly through their diet and cleaning routines.
