The first dental journal in Australia was published in 1897 in Victoria and was titled the Australian Journal of Dentistry. New South Wales soon followed suit with the publication of several dental journals which eventually amalgamated into the Dental Journal of Australia. Later still, Queensland published its own journal under the title of The Australian Dental Mirror and, subsequently, the Queensland Dental Journal.

ADRF RESEARCH REPORTSCIENTIFIC ARTICLES CLINICAL REPORTThe mandibular ramus donor site With the increased awareness of the population about dental implants, more patients are presenting after losing a number of teeth and requesting fixed solutions to their dilemmas. Often they have lost width of alveolus which does not allow implant placement without its augmentation. The mandibular ramus is one intra-oral site that can supply excellent quality and often quantity of autologous bone for use in augmenting alveolar ridge deficiencies. This article describes the general surgical principles in harvesting the mandibular ramus.

THE USE OF FLUORIDES IN AUSTRALIA: GUIDELINESThe use of fluorides in Australia: guidelines ARCPOH hosted the workshop at the request of the National Advisory Committee on Oral Health (NACOH) which had considered the need for Australia to update its guidelines on the use of fluorides as part of promoting the oral health of the population in Australia’s National Oral Health Plan 2004–2013 (AHMC, 2004).
