Acrylic nightguards are often used to protect the teeth, but many patients still grind with these appliances. This study aimed to test the effectiveness of three lubricants in reducing enamel wear by using an electro-mechanical machine under controlled conditions, with a view to undertaking a subsequent longitudinal clinical study.

SCIENTIFIC ARTICLESA survey of sodium hypochlorite use by general dental practitioners and endodontists in Australia Sodium hypochlorite is used commonly as an endodontic irrigant, but there are no published reports that provide details of its use. This survey sought to determine the percentage of Australian dentists who practiced endodontics, whether they used sodium hypochlorite for irrigation, and the manner of dilution, storage and dispensing sodium hypochlorite used by both dentists and endodontists.

Debate continues as to whether being young confers a worse prognosis for patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue. Recent papers have provided conflicting views in this debate. Identification of the aetiological factor(s) involved greatly facilitates the management of such conditions. This report describes oral ulceration of the mucosa overlying the lingual shelf and mylohyoid ridge of the mandible and, less commonly on tori and exostoses, in association with bone sequestration.
