About us
This association was founded in 1985 by a group of dentists who wish to pursue the study of Orofacial Orthopaedics. There are now over 300 members in Australia and New Zealand including Specialist Orthodontists, Paedodontists, Oral Maxillo-facial Surgeons, and General Dentists. The aim of the Society is to promote the early recognition of Skeletal Deficiencies and provide treatment to maximize facial development and promote health in the masticatory muscles and joints. By early arch development and cessation of deleterious habits, the need for subsequent extractions can be reduced. The Association runs seminars for dentists in the fields of early treatment orthodontics using fixed and braces and removable appliances.
