Dental Professionals – 2-weeks sailing the remote islands of Fiji

Since 2012, Sea Mercy has provided Floating Health Care Clinic (FHCC) services to the hundreds of ‘at risk’ remote islands of Fiji and Tonga.  Working with the approval of the Fijian Ministry of Health, you and 3-5 other international dental professionals will spend 2 weeks sailing and living on a 47’ catamaran yacht, providing free dental care services and education to the remote islands you visit. You will drop anchor in some of the most beautiful and remote locations and serve the communities living there. This is truly a “working holiday” experience like no other (video:
You and your team will be working with a local dentist who will act as liaison and interpreter at each island stop. All equipment, medicines and services will be provided by the ministry of health, although we encourage volunteers to bring their own dental tools. All dental services will be provided in the village, with village/island populations ranging from 50 to 500+. Dental Clinics are generally one day in length, but can be up to 2 days.
Spouses or a family member are welcome to join you, but will be required to play a role during each clinic stop. There are plenty of needs and the work will be long, but rewarding, and the down-time will include sailing, snorkeling and relaxing. This is an unpaid, volunteer position. Please visit the website to learn more about the program.
