The disparity of oral health outcomes in remote and very remote Australia is due to the lack of timely and accessible dental services. As a result, the impact of poor oral health on the general health status of individuals living in remote Australia is significantly higher than those living in urban Australia. RFDS have been funded to establish a comprehensive oral health program in areas of remote and very remote Australia, where there is complete market failure and no existing dental services in place.

RFDS Central Operations (SA and NT) is establishing an outreach dental program to very remote SA and NT communities and are seeking highly motivated general dentists with experience of working in challenging conditions to consider partnering with us in this important initiative.

You will fly with the RFDS crew to a remote community for  4 days and 3 nights for each deployment, delivering general dental services with an emphasis on oral health promotion and preventative dentistry, practicing within the philosophy of minimal intervention dentistry.

All accommodation and travel costs are provided and a stipend payment will be negotiated.
