Apply now to change lives with the Healthier Smiles Community Service Grants

19 April 2021

The Healthier Smiles Community Service Grants (the Grants), a partnership between the Australian Dental Health Foundation (ADHF) and the Mars Wrigley Foundation, are your chance to make a difference to the oral health of disadvantaged groups throughout Australia.

With applications opening on 21 April, the Grants offer dentists, dental students, and teams of dental professionals up to US$82,000 (approx. AUD$107,000*)  to help them implement oral health community service, education, and preventative care in some of the highest risk and most in-need communities across Australia.

In total, there are 10 x US$8,200 grants (approx. AUD$10,780*) available for registered ADA dentists or students.

Over the course of 10 years, the partnership between the ADHF and the Mars Wrigley Foundation has invested more than US$800,000 (approx. AUD$1 million*) in oral health screening, treatment and education to over 50,000 Australians.

The Grants have three main aims:

- To enable the delivery of oral health programs that provide sustained benefits - screening, treatment and education - for disadvantaged groups throughout Australia.

- To promote the work the dental community is doing to address oral health inequities faced by disadvantaged members of the Australian community, and

- To ensure Australia’s oral health outcomes continue to improve through improved access, delivery and education.

Past recipients have included:

- The Royal Flying Doctor Service which provides same day dental treatment to seven remote communities across the Northern Territory and South Australia.

- Dental on Eyre which received funding to implement a fluoride education and delivery program to vulnerable populations in the Eyre region.

- Cherbourg Volunteer Dental Clinic, allowing the provision of emergency and preventive dental treatment and education to the Indigenous community living in Cherbourg through a partnership between Griffith University and the Barambah Medical Service.
