Change in DVA schedule effective 1 July 2019

9 July 2019

As of the 1st July, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) has a new dental fee schedule.

The schedule is for dental services provide to Australian Defence Force veterans who are eligible to receive free or subsidised treatment from any dentist registered to provide services through the Medicare Benefits Scheme.

(For more information on this program, please go to Department of Veterans' Affairs at ada.org.au)

Previously, the DVA revised its fee schedule every November but since the pause on indexation was reversed last year, the DVA fees are now reviewed and updated in line with the financial year.

Despite this year’s increases, the fees remain well below the average fee of many dental practices as collected in the ADA’s annual fee survey, and the ADA remains committed to raising this issue with the Department and the newly appointed Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, the Hon Darren Chester MP, at our next meeting.
