Call for applicants to serve on the Dental Board of Australia

The Dental Board of Australia (the Board), one of 15 health profession boards that work together with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency to deliver the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme is asking for people who are passionate about healthcare and protecting the public to indicate their interest in appointment to the Board. 

Board appointments 

These positions, which have arisen due to the scheduled expiry of current board member appointments, are open to registered dental practitioners and community members although on the role of Board Chair can only be filled by a registered dental practitioner. 

The Board is also seeking increased input from First Nations People and is encouraging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons to apply. 

Each appointment is for a period of three years.

National Committees appointments 

The Board is also seeking applications from experienced dental practitioners and community members for appointment to the following national committees which have vacancies: 

Immediate Action Committee 

Notification Committee Assessment 

Notification and Compliance Committee, and 

Registration and Compliance Committee. 

The role of these committees is to review, assess and make decisions on notification matters (complaints) and registration applications. 

As with the Board appointments, increased input is being sought from First Nations People and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons are encouraged to apply.
