The ADA welcomed the strengthening of the National Health and Medical Research Council’s draft Public Statement on water fluoridation and human health in Australia in stating that community water fluoridation as a safe, effective and ethical way to help reduce tooth decay across the population.

The ADA has outlined how the Productivity Commissions’ proposed model for public dental services does not adequately reflect the fact that the majority of the dental workforce and infrastructure is in private practice. Any reform must accordingly be geared towards efficiently these resources, such as through public vouchers.
